In our Public Policy and Administration course, students engaged in a group project focused on the critical theme of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly relevant for a developing country like Egypt. For their coursework submission, students were tasked with responding to the following question:
“The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are of particular importance to a developing country like Egypt. Choose one of the SDGs and, in a group of three to five, write a policy paper analyzing your chosen policy problem within the Egyptian context. Provide relevant policy recommendations.”
This assignment encouraged students to delve into the complexities of public policy and the SDGs, fostering collaboration and critical thinking. The policy papers submitted by the students showcased a variety of compelling discussions on significant policy issues related to the SDGs in Egypt. Each group analyzed their chosen SDG, providing thoughtful insights and relevant policy recommendations tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities facing Egypt.
Through this project, students not only gained a deeper understanding of the SDGs but also developed valuable skills in policy analysis and formulation, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to Egypt’s sustainable development agenda.
