The students will be introduced to the methods, concepts and equipment associated with Landscape Photography. Through a series of lectures, group tutorials and workshops students will be shown the work of key historical and contemporary Landscape Photographers. After making research into the work of landscape photographers, students will identify a piece of landscape that they would like to photograph throughout the time length of the module. Whilst photographing this piece of landscape, students will also make research into it in order to create a Landscape Photograph portfolio that is well informed and intriguing to an audience. This practical based module is part of a wider Programme of study which encourages students to explore a thematic approach to image making. The subject matter being explored here relates specifically to the ‘Life on The Land’ SDG and often visually explores wider themes of conservation, poverty, construction and pollution within the Cairo area.
The format of this module included a series of group critiques, which encouraged students to discuss the themes they had chosen to explore. Whilst connecting directly to SDG 04 (Quality Education) the creative output of the module visually highlights many of the UN’s SDG’s.
