In collaboration with Unilever Egypt (Signal), the Dental Hospital at the Faculty of Dentistry, The British University in Egypt (BUE), is leading a daily initiative to promote oral health awareness among adults and children. This initiative contributes significantly to Egypt’s Vision 2030 and supports the United Nations’ Third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG #3) to “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.” Oral health is deeply intertwined with overall well-being, and this initiative emphasizes the importance of preventive care.
Patients are educated on proper brushing techniques, the impact of nutrition on dental health, the dangers of sugary foods, and the importance of regular dental checkups. The initiative particularly benefits patients from areas with limited access to dental services, providing them with essential oral health education. it was held at Patients’ Waiting Area, Dental Hospital, Faculty of Dentistry with approximate reach of 250-300 patients were educated on oral health daily.
As part of the sustainability effort, every patient receives a free toothbrush and toothpaste, thanks to the collaboration with Signal (Unilever Egypt). This partnership helps revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development (SDG #17), highlighting the power of collaboration in creating a lasting impact.
Moreover, the program aligns with SDG #4 by enhancing the quality of students’ education. It provides practical experience for senior dental students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to make a difference in their communities.
Through this initiative, the convoy serves a national goal by reaching a sector of the Egyptian population that has been deprived of proper access to dental services, helping to ensure good health and well-being for all.
