The Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, in collaboration with the School of Continuing Education at The British University in Egypt, recently launched its inaugural GREEN CITY session as part of the 2022 Children’s Summer Program. Designed for children aged 8-14, this vibrant program aimed to introduce young learners to key concepts of sustainability, energy conservation, and eco-friendly urban planning through interactive, hands-on learning.
Throughout the program, children engaged in practical activities, including constructing solar ovens, wind turbines, and city maquettes, which allowed them to explore renewable energy, green architecture, and sustainable urban design in a fun and accessible way. Discussions, visual aids, and collaborative projects helped reinforce ideas around global warming, energy conservation, and sustainable cities.
This experiential approach empowered participants with both the knowledge and inspiration to consider how architecture and engineering can address global challenges like climate change. Through their involvement, the young attendees gained a sense of environmental responsibility, equipping them with the tools to become future advocates for a more sustainable world.
