Faculty of Pharmacy Hosts Seminar on “Genomix Laboratories: A Creative Forward Step in National Production”

The Faculty of Pharmacy’s Center of Drug Research and Development (CDRD) recently organized an engaging seminar titled “Genomix Laboratories: A Creative Forward Step in the National Production.” This event took place at the British University in Egypt (BUE), bringing together students, faculty, and industry professionals to explore innovative advancements in molecular biology.

The seminar featured Prof. Mohamed Waheed, Professor of Zoonoses at Cairo University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and CEO and Founder of Genomix Laboratories. Prof. Waheed shared his inspiring journey in founding Genomix, a company dedicated to producing high-quality molecular biology reagents. His presentation highlighted how Genomix is addressing key needs within the research community by offering affordable, readily available products as an alternative to imported foreign reagents.

Through Genomix, Prof. Waheed aims to support researchers with innovative, locally produced solutions, bridging a critical gap in the market and strengthening national production. His insights provided attendees with a firsthand look at the challenges and successes in developing a biotechnology enterprise, inspiring future pharmacists and researchers to pursue impactful, locally-driven innovations.
