The talk started by introducing the LISA 2020 network, a network of stat labs located mainly in developing countries and headquartered at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and discussing the issues of formalization of statistics consultations and the barriers faced as well as the resources provided by this network. A focus of the talk was about the application of data science for renewable energy forecasting in India by the stat lab at the University of Calcutta, an initiative undertaken in response to a project awarded by USAID to this network requiring the use of data science in any country specific USAID domain.
