Faculty members from the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering (FEEE) at The British University in Egypt, in collaboration with the Net Zero Technology Centre and several leading technology and research organizations from eight countries, have contributed to a pioneering report titled “Closing the Gap: A Global Perspective.”
This report offers a global outlook on the energy transition and the path towards integrated energy systems. It emphasizes five key international collaboration actions that aim to accelerate technology innovation and deployment, driving the transition to net-zero emissions as quickly, efficiently, and affordably as possible.
The findings of this impactful report will be presented on November 15th at the COP27 meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Key Focus Areas:
Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7): The report outlines strategies to achieve integrated energy systems that promote affordable and reliable access to clean energy globally, a core element of SDG 7.
Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9): By encouraging international collaboration and technological innovation, the report supports advancements in energy technologies and strengthens infrastructure resilience, vital for sustainable energy industries.
Climate Action (SDG 13): Focusing on achieving net-zero emissions, the report provides actionable insights into reducing carbon emissions through innovation, aligning with the global climate action goals set at COP27.
Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17): Demonstrating the power of international collaboration, the report brings together experts and organizations from eight countries to enhance knowledge sharing and resource allocation, supporting the achievement of SDG 17.
The FEEE faculty’s involvement in this project highlights their commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, reinforcing global efforts toward achieving a low-carbon future. By presenting these findings at COP27, the report will play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable, net-zero future for all.
