In collaboration with the Farouk El Baaz Foundation and Unilever Egypt (Signal), the British University in Egypt (BUE) organized a medical and dental convoy aimed at providing essential healthcare services to communities in high-need areas. This initiative is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG #3 and #17), contributing to Egypt’s Vision 2030 by ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all.
The convoy provided comprehensive dental and medical checkups, serving 450 patients, both adults and children. These services were a reflection of the Faculty of Dentistry’s social responsibility and the university’s strategic priority to engage with and serve the community.
Services Offered:
- Diagnosis of Oral and Dental Problems
- Specialized Dental Services
- Oral Health Awareness: Focused on the dangers of smoking and oral cancer prevention.
- General Oral Health Education: Including tooth brushing techniques for both adults and children.
- General Medical Checkups: Blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride measurements, along with awareness campaigns about chronic diseases affecting oral health.
- Giveaways: Patients received dental care kits, including toothbrushes and toothpaste, to promote sustainability in oral health care.
The impact of this convoy goes beyond immediate care. It addresses a national priority by providing much-needed dental services and health education to individuals who lack access to proper healthcare. By promoting oral health awareness, the initiative directly contributes to the overall health and well-being of the Egyptian population. Additionally, the convoy aligns with SDG #4, enhancing the quality of students’ education through community engagement.
This initiative, strengthened by the collaboration with Unilever Egypt (Signal) and the Farouk El Baaz Foundation, plays a vital role in implementing and revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development, in alignment with SDG #17.
