On Wednesday, 11 December 2024, the British University in Egypt was proud to host Dr. Ansam ElShaikh, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biological Psychopathology, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Dr. ElShaikh also serves as the Director of the Cognitive Sciences and Brain Research Center at BUE.
Held in Class Room 2, the seminar titled “Neural Alterations in Mental Illness” provided an engaging and research-driven overview of how brain function is impacted in various mental health conditions. Drawing on her expertise in clinical psychology and her doctoral research in biological psychopathology, Dr. ElShaikh shared valuable insights into the neural mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders.
The event served as an exciting opportunity to initiate collaboration between her research center and others under the Health Research Center of Excellence umbrella. Her work highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in advancing mental health research at the university and beyond.
