The British University in Egypt (BUE) recently conducted a comprehensive workshop for nurses aimed at optimizing sterilization practices and ensuring patient safety. The workshop targeted four nurses, two from each unit, to provide in-depth training on critical sterilization procedures.
Key Objectives of the Workshop:
- Sterilization Cycle Adjustments: To ensure that sterilization cycles are accurately calibrated and maintained to eliminate microbial contamination.
- Pouches Placement and Checking: To train nurses on the correct techniques for placing and checking pouches to prevent breaches in sterility.
- Pouches Stamping Instructions: To standardize the process of stamping pouches to ensure traceability and compliance with infection control protocols.
- Infection Control Cycle in Sterilization Room: To reinforce the importance of adhering to strict infection control measures within the sterilization room to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
To assess the effectiveness of the workshop, a pre- and post-workshop questionnaire was administered to participants. The feedback gathered from these questionnaires will be used to identify areas for further improvement and to refine future training programs.
