As part of the Pharmacognosy 1 module, students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at The British University in Egypt recently participated in a field trip to Sekem, a unique community known for its dedication to sustainable development. This enriching experience allowed students to observe the preparation of herbal medicines, linking classroom concepts with real-world applications.
During the visit, students gained insights into sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Sekem’s exemplary practices. By observing Sekem’s approach to environmental responsibility, students not only expanded their understanding of herbal medicine but also drew inspiration for sustainable practices in their own lives and future careers. This trip was an exceptional opportunity for students to see sustainability in action, blending scientific knowledge with an appreciation for cultural and environmental stewardship.
